OK, I'm almost over the whole Facebook thing. That was a short lived phase. ANYWAY, we've been kayaking a.m.a.p. lately and having a really good time with it. We're planning a trip to Mayne Island next weekend. We're staying at a cottage on the ocean and bringing our kayak (maybe renting another while we're there) to explore the coast of the island. There are supposed to be some really nice beaches there so that's kind of exciting. I think we might also rent some bikes there as well so we don't have to haul ours over. Here are some pics of our recent adventures.

I've got a serious problem, I'm totally addicted to Facebook! If anyone else has this problem, please let me know so I don't feel so all alone!!:)
Thought I would do a quick update before returning to my Facebook page. We finally got the kayak last week and were able to take it out on Thurday. It was pretty great and can't wait to get back out there with it. We went to Loon Lake about 2 weeks ago for 4 night, had tons of fun with the kids and Lynn, Henry and Jenna joined us - so great! I've set up the garden finally (better late than never!) and I think that's about it.

Our new Kayak
This is the new kayak we've just ordered. J and I went out to test a few yesterday and we LOVED it. I knew we would but wasn't sure how my gimped hip would handle sitting at a 90 degree angle for a long period of time (for those of you who don't know - I broke my hip when I was 18). Anyway, it was all good and after a bit of mulling over makes and models we chose the Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL. We chose a "sit on top" style because it's a lot more stable than the "sit in" style and the kids can use it for diving off of or playing on without worrying about it filling with water. It should hold the 4 of us but more comfortably 2-3 of us. Since M's not a huge water fan I plan on taking J most of the time. I have a feeling we won't be home much this summer!!

Not much to report today except that my friend Darren FINISHED LAW SCHOOL!! WOO-HOO!! Way to go Darren!! I can't even begin to imagine how hard that must have been (ok, it would have been hard for me but probably not so much for Darren as he is super smart.) Whew!! Just thinking about school stresses me out.
We've been very busy around here lately. Planning J's birthday party, preparing for a potential flood, working extra days, PLUS this single parent thing is killing me! I don't think I really realized how good I had it until M wasn't able to help with the kids. Now I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off (nice expression!) but seriously - it's a lot of work for one person! M's recovering nicely from his surgery. He had his staples out yesterday and has been able to spend some well deserved, quiet time at home while the rest of us are at work and daycare. Hopefully he'll be back to normal (or close to it!) soon.

Hernias, 2-wheelers and campfires...
M had his hernia surgery yesterday morning. Everything went well and we were home by about 4pm. He's not feeling that great today but I think the more that he moves around, the sooner he'll be back to normal (if it's anything like a cesarean section).
In other news, J has learned to ride his bike without training wheels - this is a huge step because he absolutely REFUSED to try it due to a few crashing incidents. Anyway, we took them off, forced him onto the bike and off he went!! He was so happy and proud of himself. All he can talk about now is bike riding! I think this will be so good for him as he was a little frustrated with not being able to keep up with his friends on their bikes. Thought I'd also post a pic of one of our backyard fires (we're allowed to burn yard stuff in November and April) because anyone who knows me knows that I have serious pyromaniac tendancies and backyard campfires are a HUGE part of our home life. J and I stand out there for hours just poking at the fire and talking about how cool it is. I know, I know...a little strange - but we like it.

Lost keys and the flu
I thought we were in the clear but it seems the flu bug has found us. L has been sick for about a week now. Fever, chills, phlemy coughing. J woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat, fever and headache. M and I are ok so far so that makes looking after the boys A LOT easier.
In other news, M has lost the keys to his new motorcycle. We have turned this house upside down and nothing. He's a little upset about this. Poor guy.
In OTHER other news, I noticed that someone from New York and someone from Madrid have been checking out my blog - how crazy/cool is that?!? I have a meter that shows me how many people are looking at my blog and which city they are in. I wonder who it could be! If you're reading this, don't be shy - leave a comment to say "hello"!!
